History of Community Bank of the Red River Valley

In August of 2003, two premier area financial institutions – Grand Forks-based Community National Bank established in 1963 and East Grand Forks’s Rural American Bank established in 1964– merged to form Community Bank of the Red River Valley. In July of 2005, Ada-based Rural American Bank established in 1881 merged with Community Bank of the Red River Valley.
Prior to the mergers, the three banks enjoyed common ownership. With the mergers, the three institutions combine their significant, well-established strengths to offer comprehensive agricultural, commercial and consumer financial services to urban and rural customers alike throughout the Valley region. Community Bank of the Red River Valley continues to offer the same local management expertise, ensuring continuity and continued local decision-making. The result: more products and services, more convenience, and enhanced lending capacity for customers up and down the Red River Valley.
